Using checkpoints to secure objects and resources in a conditional access system. Authentication and/or authorization checks are performed at a number of checkpoints to assure security of the object and resource. Checkpoints trigger these checks when the purpose of the object or resource becomes manifest as well as other times during handling of the object or resource.
