A method of locating objects in a distributed electronic environment comprising defining a plurality of object-types, which object-types are assigned a plurality of attributes, one attribute being an object-precedence attribute. A plurality of home locations for objects are defined. When a new object is instantiated, which object has associations with other objects, the new object is located at the home location of the existing object which has the highest precedence value of all the associated objects.

L'invention concerne un procédé de localisation d'objets dans un environnement électronique réparti. Ce procédé consiste à définir plusieurs types d'objets auxquels sont attribués plusieurs attributs, un attribut étant un attribut de priorité d'objet. Plusieurs localisations nominales sont définies pour des objets. Lorsqu'un nouvel objet est instancié, lequel objet présente des associations avec d'autres objets, il est localisé au niveau de la localisation nominale de l'objet existant possédant la valeur de priorité la plus élevée de tous les objets associés.
