A moving object identification method (10) for identifying and tracing an object (20) within a video image (14) such that the object (20) can act as a hot spot (30) as for an interactive computer/user interface (70). A plurality of tags (28) define the edges (26) of the object (20) and a plurality of hot spot borders (32) define the hot spot (30) such that the hot spot (30) and the object (20) generally coincide. A physical tag (28b) is optionally used to position the tags (28). Sensitivity to disapperance of the edges (26) is adjustable according to the relative size of a subtag (68) to the corresponding tag (28).

Cette invention concerne un procédé (10) d'identification d'un objet mouvant, lequel procédé permet d'identifier et de suivre un objet (20) dans une image vidéo (14) de sorte que cet objet (20) puisse jouer le rôle de tache lumineuse (30) dans une interface (70) interactive ordinateur/utilisateur. Plusieurs étiquettes (28) permettent de définir les bords (26) de l'objet (20), tandis que plusieurs bordures (32) de tache lumineuse définissent ladite tache lumineuse (30) de manière à ce que celle-ci (30) et l'objet (20) coïncident de manière générale. Une étiquette physique (28b) peut également servir à marquer la position des étiquettes (28). La sensibilité à la disparition des bords (26) peut être ajustée en fonction de la taille relative d'une sous-étiquette (68) d'une étiquette (28) correspondante.
