A computer system is disclosed for simulating transport phenomena in a complex system. The system comprises memory means, storage means, and an object- oriented software. The software comprises an object-oriented extensible class hierarchy comprising a first set of generic classes that represent a plurality of object types and a second set of generic classes that represent member variables for the object types. The extensible class hierarchy permits the addition of additional object types or additional member variables without any modifications to the class hierarchy itself. In another embodiment, the computer system also contains a logic interface that enables a user of the computer system to dynamically construct logic to customize simulation of the physical system, a means for converting the constructed logic into corresponding object-oriented code, a means for integrating the object- oriented code with a main simulation system, and a means for executing the integrated simulation system.

L'invention concerne un système informatique simulant des phénomènes de transport dans un système complexe. Ce système informatique comprend une mémoire, un dispositif de stockage et un logiciel orienté objet. Ledit logiciel comporte une hiérarchie de classe extensible qui comprend un premier ensemble de classes génériques représentant une pluralité de types d'objets, et un second ensemble de classes génériques représentant des variables constitutives qui correspondent aux types d'objets. La hiérarchie de classe extensible permet d'ajouter des types d'objets additionnels ou des variables constitutives additionnelles, sans modifier la hiérarchie proprement dite. Selon une variante, le système informatique peut également comporter une interface logique permettant à l'utilisateur d'élaborer dynamiquement une logique pour personnaliser la simulation du système physique, un dispositif de conversion de la logique résultante en code orienté objet associé, un dispositif d'intégration de ce code à un système de simulation principal, et un dispositif de mise en oeuvre du système de simulation intégré.
