A technique for navigating in an object-oriented computer system, including a prcocessor with an attached storage and a display. A first document is loaded into the storage and presented on the display. Then, a selection object is created and associated with the first document on the display. A reference is associated with the first selection in the storage. Then, a second document is loaded into the storage and presented on the display and a reference is associated with the first selection in the second document. Finally, navigation is enabled via the reference in the second document to the first selection in the first document. Commands can also be performed via a reference on a remote object as if the object resided locally.
Technique permettant de naviguer dans un système informatique orienté objet, comprenant un processeur doté d'une mémoire associée et d'un dispositif d'affichage. On charge un premier document dans la mémoire et ce document apparaît sur le dispositif d'affichage. Puis on crée une sélection d'objet et on l'associe au premier document présenté sur le dispositif d'affichage. On associe une référence à la première sélection dans la mémoire. On charge ensuite un deuxième document dans la mémoire et ce document apparaît sur le dispositif d'affichage, une référence étant alors associée à la première sélection dans le deuxième document. La navigation peut s'effectuer par l'intermédiaire de la référence présente dans le deuxième document jusqu'à la première sélection présente dans le premier document. On peut également réaliser des commandes par l'intermédiaire d'une référence sur un objet éloigné comme s'il s'agissait d'un objet résidant localement.
