2149869 9504987 PCTABS00035 A system and method for managing the color palette for an object-oriented operating system providing for the sharing of a plurality (e.g., 256) of colors for display by an external device. In a first aspect, an 8-bit color lookup table (clut) is shared by a plurality of views in a document being displayed on the external device such that consistent looking color is provided across a plurality of graphic devices. The inventive method includes creating a color lookup table (clut) for the operating system, uniformly dividing the clut into a predetermined number of colors, displaying graphic information having a plurality of views, and sharing the predetermined number of colors in the clut amongst the plurality of views of the graphic information. The predetermined number of colors includes a plurality of colors each of which are consistent when displayed on different color displays.
L'invention concerne un système et un procédé pour gérer la palette de couleurs d'un système d'exploitation orienté objets, permettant de partager une pluralité de couleurs (par exemple 256), pour une visualisation sur un dispositif externe. Selon un premier aspect, un tableau de couleurs à 8 bits est partagé en une pluralité de vues dans un document visualisé sur le dispoitif externe pour qu'une couleur d'aspect reproductible soit obtenue sur une pluralité de dispositifs graphiques. Le procédé de l'invention prévoit de créer un tableau de couleurs pour le système d'exploitation, de diviser d'une manière uniforme le tableau de couleurs en un nombre prédéterminé de couleurs, de visualiser l'information graphique ayant une pluralité de vues et de partager le nombre prédéterminé de couleurs dans le tableau de couleurs parmi la pluralité de vues d'informations graphiques. Dans le nombre prédéterminé de couleurs, il y a une pluralité de couleurs dont chacune est reproductible lorsqu'elle est visualisée sur différents dispositifs de visualisation en couleurs.
