An insulation displacement contact for communication and data transmission has two separated contact legs connected at one end thereof to define a contact slot therebetween, and is fittable into an existing groove extending obliquely across a channel of a housing for receiving wire extending in the channel. The contact allows proper contact with wire having a rigidity lower than 0.4 mm diameter copper wire, and fits within the groove without compromising its rigidity. This is achieved by having a contact portion of each of the contact legs angled in the area of the contact slot such that the contact portions extend outwardly in opposite directions. The contact portions may be bent to the outward positions, may be displaced parallel to each other, and may have cutout sections positioned diagonally-opposite to each other on the contact slot.
