The object of the invention is to provide a camera that exhibits an increased impact-resistance, and to that end the invention provides an observation device comprising a housing, an optical lens with a field of view, which is accommodated within the housing, said housing comprising an outer dome which is transparent, at least in the field of view of the lens, for protecting the lens, and an inner dome disposed within the outer dome. The observation device having the above construction is resistant to impact by an object with a maximum impact energy of a first magnitude, whilst the observation device not fitted with an inner dome is resistant to impact by said object with a maximum impact energy of a second magnitude. The proportion between the first magnitude and the second magnitude is at least 1.1.
