The invention relates to oleoyl-oestrone or oestrone monooleate which is a monoester of a fatty acid and of an oestrogen which is suitable for preparing a medicament for the treatment and/or prophylaxis of persons suffering from a metabolic disease from the group comprising type 2 diabetes mellitus, hyperlipidaemia (hypertriacylglyceridaemia, hypercholesterolaemia, hyperlipoproteinemia) and Metabolic Syndrome X which is associated with glucose intolerance, hyperinsulinaemia or insulin resistance. Compared to insulin, oleoyl-oestrone offers the advantage of being administered orally. Oleoyl-oestrone is known to be effective as an oral antidiabetic as it does not only act as a hypoglycaemic agent, but it also goes to the root of the problem, diminishing resistance to insulin. Oleoyl-oestrone can also be used to treat dyslipemias owing to the additional hypolipidaemic effects thereof.
L'invention concerne l'oléoyl-oestrone ou monooléate d'oestrone qui est un monoester d'un acide gras et d'un oestrogène pouvant être utilisé dans la préparation d'un médicament destiné au traitement et/ou à la profilaxie d'un être humain souffrant d'une maladie métabolique sélectionnée dans le groupe formé par le diabète mellitus de type 2, l'hyperlipémie (hypertriacylglycéridémie, hypercholestérolémie, hyperlipoprotéinemie) et le syndrome métabolique X associé à l'intolérance au glucose, à l'hyperinsulinémie ou à la résistance à l'insuline. Comparée à l'insuline, l'oléoyl-oestrone présente l'avantage d'être administrée par voie orale. L'efficacité de l'oléoyl-oestrone comme antidiabétique oral est connue car elle sert non seulement d'agent hypoglycémique, mais permet également d'attaquer le problème à la racine, réduisant la résistance à l'insuline. Ses effets hypolipémiants supplémentaires permettent d'étendre son utilisation au traitement des dyslipémies.
