An off-mains powered hand-held abrading machine has a quadratic shaped longitudinal part designed as a handle, and a support part connected to the longitudinal part for supporting an abrading element. The longitudinal running edges of the longitudinal part are rounded off and the four longitudinal faces scalloped inward in such a manner in the form of fluting that on the one hand the inner chamber of the longitudinal part thereby formed serves as a holder and receptacle of four cube-shaped, arranged energy store elements and on the other hand an ergonomic handle is formed by the form thus produced for manipulation of the hand-held abrading machine.
