ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE There is disclosed a duplicating machine, comprising: a master cylinder equipped with a clamp operable to a closed mode for clamping one end of a master to the master cylinder and to an open mode for ejecting the master; a treating unit for converting the master as it is being wrapped around the master cylinder, a feed mechanism operable from an off condition- to an on condition for transporting the master from a supply source to the treating unit; conveyor rollers for transporting the master from the treating unit to the clamp; a drive gear for selectively driving the master cylinder at a printing speed and a starting speed; a switching arrangement causing the master cylinder to operate at the starting speed when the feed mechan- ism is in the on condition and when the conveyor rollers are operable; a selectable gear drive causing the feed mechanism to be in the off condition and for rendering the conveyor rollers operative for delivering one end of the master to the clamp; a cam controlled switch operable when the master is wrapped completely around the master cylinder for causing the master cylinder to operate at the printing speed. The invention avoids the necessity in prior art devices of providing a conven- tional waiting station for holding masters subsequent to treat- ment in a conversion bath and prior to attachment to the master cylinder.
