ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An offshore mooring system is described, which includes a column with an upper end connected to a vessel through a universal joint and a lower end anchored by chains to the sea floor. A weight hangs down from the bottom of the column. A pair of line guides are on the lower end of the universal joint, and a pair of lines extend through the guides to the top of the column when it is being pulled up to the vessel. As the column is being pulled up, the line guides pivot the universal joint into alignment with the column.
