F-0870-L OIL RECOVERY BY SURFACTANT-ALCOHOL WATERFLOODING ABSTRACT: In a waterflooding technique for recovering oil from a subterranean formation, at least a portion of the injected water contains a preferentially oil-soluble alcohol, a sulfobetaine, a quaternary ammonium compound containing at least one long chain hydrocarbon group and a quaternary ammonium compound with short chain hydrocarbon groups, such a formulation serving both as a surfactant and a mobility control agent.
