An oil retention barrier (1) over which oil cannot splash over when the barrier is hauled in consists of several floating partial cells (8, 15, 16) and several smaller partial cells (7, 21) that are submerged in water, arranged and joined together in such a way that a flow channel (24) is created therebetween. For that purpose, one of the partial cells (15) is positioned in front of the other floating partial cells (8, 16) and joined to the floating partial cell (8) and to the submerged partial cell (9) by spacers (18, 23) that create said flow channel (24). The floating partial cells (8, 15, 16) are filled with waterproofed glass fibres or glass fibre mats, whereas the submerged partial cells (9, 21, 26) are filled with a non waterproofed material, in particular glass fibres. The flow channel (24) prevents banking- up pressure from building up in front of the barrier (1), so that the latter can be hauled in with practically no problems. The oil (4) cannot splash over the barrier nor flow underneath it.

Cette barrière de confinement de pétrole, qui empêche le pétrole (4) de déborder lorsque l'on hale la barrière (1) à bord, comprend plusieurs cellules partielles flottantes (8, 15, 16) et plusieurs cellules partielles plus petites (9, 21) immergées dans l'eau, agencées et reliées les unes aux autres de façon à former un canal d'écoulement (24) entre les cellules partielles. A cet effet, une cellule partielle flottante (15) est positionnée en avant des autres cellules partielles flottantes (8, 16) et reliée à la cellule partielle flottante (8) et à la cellule partielle immergée (9) par des éléments d'espacement (18, 23) qui créent le canal d'écoulement (24) dans l'espace entre les cellules partielles. Les cellules partielles flottantes (8, 15, 16) sont remplies de fibres de verre ou de mats en fibres de verre imperméabilisés à l'eau, alors que les cellules partielles immergées (9, 21, 26) sont remplies d'un matériau non imperméabilisé à l'eau, notamment des fibres de verre. Le canal d'écoulement (24) empêche la formation d'une pression de retenue devant la barrière (1), ce qui permet de la haler à bord pratiquement sans problèmes. Le pétrole (4) ne peut ni déborder ni passer sous la barrière.
