An annular oil lip seal extender is used to axially reposition a conventional lip seal with respect to a rotating shaft after a wear groove is formed by the rubbing interaction between the lip seal and shaft without the need for a new seal, a new or reground shaft, the use of unreliable thin walled sleeves that fit over the shaft, or overly complicated assemblies that are prone to failure. The extender can be press fitted into the seal and the sub-assembly installed into a conventional housing bore. Alternatively, the extender can be loose fitted into the housing bore and the seal press fitted between the extender and the circumferential extending wall of the housing bore.
a présente invention vise une rondelle rallonge de joint à lèvre servant à repositionner axialement un joint à lèvre ordinaire par rapport à un arbre tournant lorsqu'une rainure d'usure s'est formée par frottement entre le joint et l'arbre, éliminant ainsi la nécessité de poser un nouveau joint, un arbre nouveau ou réusiné, un manchon peu fiable à parois minces à ajuster autour de l'arbre ou quelque autre élément compliqué susceptible de défaillance. L'anneau rallonge peut être inséré à force dans le joint et le tout installé dans un alésage de logement conventionnel. Dans une variante, l'anneau peut être inséré avec jeu dans l'alésage du logement et le joint être inséré à force entre l'anneau rallonge et la paroi périphérique de l'alésage du logement.
