A device for separating oil from a gas is provided which includes a housing forming a peripheral wall with an inlet at a top end of the housing for receiving an oil/gas mixture, a gas outlet formed by a conduit extending through the top end of the housing and an oil outlet at a bottom end of the housing. Within the housing there is a helical wall extending between the gas outlet conduit and the peripheral wall to cause the oil/gas mixture to flow in a largely circumferential path along the peripheral wall. Between the helical wall and the peripheral wall there is provided a mesh screen for collecting and separating the oil from the oil/gas mixture. The collected oil drips from the screen to a baffle with apertures therein which directs the oil therethrough for receipt in an oil collection zone below the baffle. The gas outlet conduit has an opening above the baffle for permitting relatively oil-free gas to exit the oil separator.
L'invention a trait à un dispositif de séparation du pétrole d'un gaz. L'invention comprend un boîtier formant une paroi périphérique dotée d'un orifice d'entrée dans sa partie supérieure pour recevoir un mélange composé de pétrole et de gaz, un orifice de sortie du gaz formé par un conduit s'avançant à travers la partie supérieure du boîtier et un orifice de sortie du pétrole dans la partie inférieure du boîtier. Se trouve à l'intérieur de ce dernier une paroi hélicoïdale s'avançant entre le conduit de sortie du gaz et la paroi périphérique afin d'amener le mélange de gaz et de pétrole à s'écouler en suivant un parcours largement circonférentiel le long de la paroi périphérique. Un tamis à maille se trouve entre la paroi hélicoïdale et la paroi périphérique afin de recueillir et de séparer le pétrole du mélange de pétrole et de gaz. Le pétrole recueilli s'égoutte du filtre jusqu'à une chicane comportant des ouvertures qui dirigent le pétrole jusqu'à une zone de réception située sous la chicane. Le conduit de l'orifice de sortie du gaz comprend une ouverture au-dessus de la chicane pour permettre au gaz relativement exempt de pétrole de sortir du séparateur de pétrole.
