This invention provides oil soluble sulfhydryl compound scavengers which are salt compositions of the formula: M n+ (R-CO2-)x(OH) n-x wherein M is a metal ion whose sulfide salt is less than 0.1 % soluble in water, n is 2 or 3, x is an integer from 1 to n, and R a hydrocarbyl radical containing from about 4 to about 19 carbon atoms, or mixture of these compositions. A method is also provided to control odors produced by sulfhydryl compounds wherein the compositions containing the said sulfhydryl compounds are contacted with the metal salts described above.
Cette invention fournit des capteurs de composés sulfhydrylés oléosolubles; il s'agit de sels ayant la formule suivante : M n+ (R-CO2-)x(OH) n-x, où M est un ion métallique dont le sel de soufre est soluble à moins de 0,1 % dans l'eau, n est égal à 2 ou 3, x est un entier entre 1 et n, et R est un radical hydrocarbyle comptant environ 4 à environ 19 atomes de carbone, ou un mélange de ces compositions. On propose également une méthode pour éliminer les odeurs produites par les composés sulfhydrylés, selon laquelle les compositions renfermant de tels composés sulfhydrylés sont mises en contact avec les sels métalliques décrits ci-dessus.
