The present invention relates to an oil sorbent comprising a matrix of intermingled non-woven polyolefin fibres, shredded polyolefin film and cellulosic fibres. In preferred embodiments, the cellulosic fibres are wood pulp fibres, the polyolefin fibres are polypropylene fibres and the polyolefin film is polyethylene film. The invention also provides a process for the sorption of oil comprising the steps of contacting the oil with a sorbent, said sorbent comprising a matrix of intermingled non-woven polyolefin fibres, shredded polyolefin film and cellulosic fibres. The oil sorbent is useful for recovery of oil, especially hydrocarbon oil, from oil spillages, especially spillages into water.
L'invention porte sur un agent de sorption pour huiles, constitué de fibres de polyoléfines enchevêtrées, non tissées, d'une pellicule de polyoléfine déchiquetée et de fibres cellulosiques. Dans les versions que l'on privilégie, les fibres cellulosiques sont des fibres de pâte de bois, les fibres de polyoléfine sont des fibres de polypropylène, et la pellicule de polyoléfine est du polyéthylène. L'invention porte également sur un procédé pour la sorption des huiles, consistant à mettre en contact l'huile avec un agent de sorption; celui-ci est constitué d'une matrice de fibres de polyoléfines enchevêtrées, non tissées, d'une pellicule de polyoléfine déchiquetée et de fibres cellulosiques. L'agent de sorption est utile pour la récupération des huiles, notamment d'hydrocarbures provenant de déversements accidentels de pétrole, particulièrement dans l'eau.
