A catalyst system useful for polymerizing olefins is disclosed. The catalyst system comprises an activator and a complex that incorporates a Group 3 to 10 transition metal and at least one chelating dianionic bis(allyl) or bis(benzyl) ligand. The ligands are often easy to make, and they are readily incorporated into transition metal complexes. By modifying the structure of the dianionic ligand, polyolefin makers can control comonomer incorporation, catalyst activity, and polymer properties.

L'invention concerne un système catalyseur utile dans la polymérisation d'oléfines. Ce système catalyseur comprend un activateur et un complexe qui incorpore un métal de transition des groupes 3 à 10 et au moins un ligand chélatant dianionique bis(allyle) ou bis(benzyle). Ces ligands sont souvent faciles à produire et sont incorporés facilement dans des complexes de métaux de transition. En modifiant la structure du ligand dianionique, les producteurs de polyoléfines peuvent réguler l'incorporation de comonomères, l'activité du catalyseur et les propriétés des polymères.
