ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE High activity catalysts which have a high response to hydrogen and which are used for the polymeri- zation of ethylene and the copolymerization of ethylene with other olefins to form resins having a narrow molecular weight distribution are prepared by depositing selected chromocene and fused ring organochromium compounds on a fluorided silica support which has a relatively low temperature heat history. -1-
