ABSTRACT A novel oligodendrocyte cytotoxic factor, salts, precursors, fragments and homologs thereof and functional derivatives of said factor or of its fragments or homologs, are selectively toxic to the oligodendrocyte lineage. Pharmaceutical compositions comprising them are useful for inducing regeneration of injured nerves of the central nervous system in mammals.
