ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE: The invention relates to the preparation of N-alkyl- iminoalane oligomers constituted by a variety of four or six member condensed rings of the type Image or Image in which R is an aliphatic, cycloaliphatic or aromatic hydro- carbon, combined to form a high purity tridimensional cage struc- tures having the chemical composition (HAlNR)n in which R has the above-said meaning and n is an integer lower than or equal to 10, said process which comprises: a) reacting primary amines or aluminium amide derivatives thereof with complexes formed by AlH3 and Lewis bases, or b) reacting alkaline or alkaline-earth metal alanates with primary amines, characterized in that amines or amino radical of amides contain a secondary or tertiary car- bon atom in alpha or beta position with respect to nitrogen atom. The compounds obtained by a process according to the present in- vention can be employed as components of polymerization catalyst systems or for carrying out reductions of many organic substrates.
