Abstract of the Disclosure Oligomeric silazanes and process for their preparation The invention relates to novel oligomeric silazanes and to a process for their preparation. The process com- prises reacting excess ammonia with a mixture of R1R2SiCl2 and Cl2R3Si-CH2CH2-SiR3Cl2 at -70 to +100°C, where the radicals independently of one another have the following meanings: R1, R2 = H, C1-C5 alkyl or C2-C6 alkenyl and R3 = C1-C6 alkyl or C2-C6 alkenyl. The oligomeric silazanes can easily be converted into polymeric chlorosilazanes, which in turn can be converted with high yield into ceramic materials containing silicon nitride.
