ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Novel oligonucleotide derivatives useful as ligands or DNA probes to be immobilized in a carrier are disclosed. The oligonucleotide derivatives of the present invention are represented by the formula [I] or [II]. (5') Image [I] (wherein m represents a natural numberr B and B', the same or different, represent a base selected from the group consisting of adenine, thymine, cytosine and guanine, ?-represents a deoxyribose residue which lacks hydroxyl groups on 3' and 5' position of 2'-deoxyribose, X represents a functional group which can react with other materials, and Y represents a linker). (5') (3') Image [II] (wherein m, B' Br', X, ?-, and Y represent the same meanings as in formula [I]).
