ABSTRACT A process for the use of .omega.-Aminocarboxylic acid amides of the formula Image wherein R is an aliphatic hydrocarbon residue having 10 to 14 car- bon atoms, R1 and R2 are selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, methyl, -CH2-CH2 OH, -CH2-CHOH-CH3 and -CH2-CHOH- CH2OH, and m and n are integers from 1 to 10, to prevent the growth of microorganisms including compositions of phosphonate sequestering agents and .omega.-aminocarboxlyic acid amides for use in industrial water treatment.
