A Lange coupler having a first plurality of lines (210, 220) on a first level and a second plurality of lines (230, 240) on a second level. At least one line on the first level is cross-coupled to a respective line on the second level via electromagnetic waves (250, 260, 270, 280) traveling through the first and second plurality of lines. The first and second plurality of lines may be made of metal, and the first level may be higher than the second level. A substrate (200) may be provided into which the first and second plurality of lines are etched so as to define an on-chip Lange coupler.
L'invention concerne un coupleur de Lange comportant une première pluralité de lignes (210, 220) sur un premier niveau et une seconde pluralité de lignes (230, 240) sur un second niveau. Au moins une ligne du premier niveau est couplée transversalement à une ligne respective du second niveau via des ondes électromagnétiques (250, 260, 270, 280) voyageant à travers les première et seconde pluralités de lignes. Les première et seconde pluralités de lignes peuvent être constituées de métal et le premier niveau peut être supérieur au second niveau. L'objet de l'invention peut comporter un substrat (200) dans lequel les première et seconde pluralités de lignes sont gravées de façon à définir un coupleur de Lange sur puce.
