An on-line barcode printer is shown for communicating with one of a number of host computers having various commu- nication parameters. The barcode printer automatically determines the communication parameters the host computer coupled thereto in order to initialize an UART of the printer so as to eliminate the need for man- ual initialization thereof. The communica- tion parameters automatically determined in- clude baud rate, parity, the number of data bits and the number of stop bits.

On décrit une imprimante de codes barres pouvant communiquer avec un ordinateur sélectionné parmi plusieurs ordinateurs principaux présentant divers paramètres de communication. L'imprimante de codes barres détermine automatiquement les paramètres de communication de l'ordinateur principal associé afin d'assurer l'initialisation de l'émetteur-récepteur asynchrone universel double (ERAU) de l'ordinateur, de façon à éliminer le besoin d'initialisation manuelle de celui-ci. Les paramètres de communication déterminés automatiquement comprennent le débit en bauds, la parité, le nombre de bits d'information ainsi que le nombre de bits d'arrêt.
