The present invention provides an overcoat useful for application onto a lithographic printing plate, the overcoat having incorporated therein a water or fountain soluble or dispersible crystalline compound. The overcoat may be used as an oxygen barrier and/or to provide a non-tacky surface on the printing plate. By the incorporation of the crystalline compound, on-press removability of the overcoat is facilitated.

Cette invention présente une couche de recouvrement se prêtant bien à une application sur une plaque lithographique, un composé cristallin, soluble ou dispersable dans de l'eau ou de l'eau de mouillage, étant incorporé à cette couche. Il est possible de l'utiliser comme barrière à l'oxygène et/ou pour obtenir une surface qui ne poisse pas sur la plaque d'impression. Du fait de l'incorporation du composé cristallin, les possibilités d'enlèvement en machine de la couche de recouvrement sont améliorées.
