An adhesive composition exhibitiing strong rubber-to-metal bonds with excellent environmental resistance without the necessity of first priming the metal surface has been discovered. The composition comprises a halogen-containing polyolefin, an aromatic nitroso compound, a polymaleimide compound, and a metal oxide such as zinc oxide or magnesium oxide. The composition may optionally contain a vulcanizing agent such as sulfur or selenium, a phenolic epoxy resin, or carbon black.

Une composition adhésive assurant une forte liaison caoutchouc-métal et présentant une excellente résistance à l'environnement sans nécessiter l'application préalable d'un apprêt sur la surface métallique a été mise au point. La composition est constituée d'une polyoléfine halogénée, d'un composé nitroso aromatique, d'un composé de polymaléimide et d'un oxyde métallique tel que l'oxyde de zinc ou l'oxyde de magnésium. La composition peut facultativement contenir un agent de vulcanisation comme le soufre ou le sélénium, une résine époxy phénolique ou du noir de carbone.
