A one-piece blow-molded closed plastic drum having an integrally-formed compression-molded handling ring and method of molding same is provided. The drum has structural strength and stability to resist breakage of the drum upon impact due to tipping or dropping of the drum. The drum includes a generally cylindrical body portion and a head portion integrally- molded with an upper end of the body portion including a transition area around and between the upper end of the body portion and a top of the drum in the head portion. The transition area has an outside curved surface of a predetermined radius so that an outside surface of the body portion is positioned in a tangential plane in close proximity to a tangential plane along the outer circumferential surface of the handling ring and/or an inside curved surface with at least one radius, preferably a double ogee with three predetermined radii, so that no acute angles are formed between inside surfaces at the transition area.
Description d'un fût monobloc en plastique moulé par soufflage comportant un anneau de manutention intégré moulé à la presse et de sa méthode de moulage. Le fût présente une force et une stabilité structurales lui permettant de résister aux bris dans l'éventualité où il basculerait ou tomberait. Il est constitué d'un corps généralement cylindrique et d'une partie supérieure moulée intégrée, l'extrémité supérieure du corps comportant une zone de transition autour de l'extrémité supérieure du corps, et entre cette extrémité et le dessus du fût, dans la partie supérieure. La zone de transition comporte une surface extérieure courbe d'un rayon prédéterminé, de sorte que la surface extérieure du corps est située dans un plan tangentiel à proximité d'un plan tangentiel sur la périphérie extérieure de l'anneau de manutention et/ou sur une surface intérieure courbe ayant au moins un rayon, préférablement une double courbe en S ayant trois rayons prédéterminés, de sorte qu'aucun angle aigu n'est formé entre les surfaces intérieures de la zone de transition.
