ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A one-piece dispensing closure has an annular skirt on the inner side of which there are threads or other means which cooperate with means on a container neck for retaining the closure on a container. The closure has a disc-like top in which there is a dispensing opening and a lid for the opening which is an integral part of the closure and is hinged to the closure top at one edge thereof. The lid has an integral plug adapted to close the dispen- sing opening when the lid is swung over into closed position over- lying the closure top. The closure top and underside of the lid have cooperating projections, for example, ears and a post, which function to prevent the lid from swinging to closed position when the closure is turned to position for dispensing con-tent material and which can be manually interengaged for retaining the lid in closed position when desired.
