A method of preparing tetrabromobenzoate compounds from tetrabromophthalic anhydride by reacting tetrabromophthalic anhydride with alcohol in the presence of a decarboxylation catalyst. The reaction may be carried out in an excess of alcohol, or with a near stoichiometric amount of alcohol by performing the reaction in an inert solvent.

Un procédé permet de préparer des composés à base de tétrabromobenzoate à partir d'anhydride tétrabromophtalique que l'on fait réagir avec de l'alcool en présence d'un catalyseur de décarboxylation. La réaction peut avoir lieu avec un excédent d'alcool, ou avec une quantité d'alcool quasiment stoechiométrique quand elle a lieu dans un solvant inerte.
