ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Flea control is generally accomplished by one, or a combination, of chemical treatments either applied concurrently or over a period of time. The formulationprovided herein comprises a stable free flowing solid composition having a flea larvacide effective amount of boric acid and the pesticidedly active salts thereof; a flea adulticide effective amount of a mono-terpene (derived from citrus peel) selected from the group consisting of d-limonene, and piperonyl butoxide (synergist) and mixtures thereof. At the preferred concentration of active ingredients, the adult population of fleas is eliminated with about twenty-four (24) to forty-eight (48) hours. Comparable mortality of pupae is accomplished within the same period. Because of the low concentration of d-Limonene relative volatility of this monoterpene, virtually all of the active biocide that can pose a potential hazard to the inhabitants of the treated area is dissipated within the time required to affect complete kill, thus, obviating the need for removal of excess residual compounds. The significance of this property cannot be understated in regard to the safety factor (mammelian toxicity) afforded by this formulation to small children and pets.
