The present invention relates to an opaque, biaxially oriented polymeric film having a thermoplastic polymer matrix material within which is located a stratum of voids. The voids are formed during orientation by a cavitating agent which is a particle of a cyclic olefinic copolymer. The solid particle is phase-distinct and incompatible with the matrix material.

L'invention concerne un film polymère à orientation biaxiale, opaque, présentant un matériau matriciel polymère thermoplastique à l'intérieur duquel est logée une couche intermédiaire de vides. Les vides sont formés durant l'orientation par un agent de cavitation qui est une particule d'un copolymère oléfinique cyclique. La particule solide est distincte en phase et incompatible avec le matériau matriciel.
