- 25 - ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE This invention is an open gear lubricating composition formulated by thickening a fluid containing a base oil, a synthetic fluid and preferably also a high molecular weight polymer, while other materials such as extreme pressure, anti-wear, anti-corrosion, anti- oxidant and solid lubricant additives may also be employed if desired. This lubricant provides adequate gear protection and dispersing performance in machinery employing large, slow moving gears under heavy loads.
