The present stairway, possibly in the form of a kit, comprises an inner structure, a number of steps and an outer covering. The inner structure includes a pain of structural assemblies that each comprise a stringer and a number of step supports mounted to the stringer. The covering includes a number of decorative risers and, for each one of the structural assemblies, a decorative inner stringer panel, a decorative outer stringer panel and a decorative rear moulding. When the steps, the risers, the inner and outer stringer panels and the rear mouldings are rigidly assembly to the structural assemblies, they completely cover the structural assemblies. In the kit, the step supports are adapted to be secured to the stringers, the steps are adapted to be mounted horizontally onto the step supports, the risers are adapted to be mounted forwardly vertically between adjacent steps, and, for each stringer, the decorative inner and outer stringer panels are adapted to be mounted vertically respectively on inner and outer sides of the stringer and the decorative elongated rear member or moulding is adapted to be mounted along lower edges of the inner and outer stringer panels.
