An open top receptacle for retaining loose or particulate matter therein, more specifically a wall mountable livestock feeding trough for retaining feed and water therein, is disclosed. The receptacle comprises a left side wall portion, a right side wall portion, a back wall portion interposed between the left and right side wall portions, a front wall portion, and a bottom portion, all operatively joined to one another in intersecting closed relation so as to retain said loose or particulate matter therein. The interior surfaces of the left and right side wall portions and the back wall portion each slope in a generally linear manner continuously downwardly and inwardly towards the bottom portion. The interior surface of the front wall portion slopes in a generally curved manner continuously downwardly and inwardly towards the bottom portion and is curved horizontally so as to form a compound curve. The receptacle is preferably made from a cast aluminum material for reasons of strength and durability. The exterior surfaces of each the left and right side wall portions and the back wall portion are sloped so as to be angled with respect tovertical, and each further comprise a vertically displaced external rib member projecting outwardly from the exterior surface of the respective of the left andright side wall portions and back wall portion, with the respective external outer edges of the rib members being substantially vertically disposed.
