ABSTRACT There is provided an "open" type clamp constructed from a wound metal strip with two ends. The strip has a first radial ear near one end of the strip, and a second radial ear near the other end of the strip. The first ear is bent over with respect to the strip so that the strip continues beyond it as a first extension directed along the periphery of the clamp and at least spanning the distance which separates the two ears. The second ear is provided with an extension which maintains a distance from the periphery of the clamp which is nearly equal to the height of the first ear. At the end of the last-mentioned extension is an end portion which is bent inwardly with respect to the clamp, and which is adapted to engage the first ear in order to securely fix the clamp about an object without any permanent deformation of the ears.
