ABSTRACT There is disclosed an operating assembly for a downhole tool, comprising a chamber filled with fluid; a pressure transfer device acting on the fluid; a double-acting piston disposed in the chamber between the ends thereof; and a longitudinal fluid bypass channel associated with the piston and extending between the ends thereof. The assembly also comprises a first and second check valve associated with said fluid bypass channel; a first and second valve seats respectively associated with the first and second check valve; a evils adapted to bias each of the check valves against its associated valve seat; and longitudinally spaced first and second stops adapted to respectively push upon contact therewith said first and second check valves away from their respective valve seats.
