71469-7 ABSTRACT In an operating element for a selector valve, particularly of the kind used in mixing batteries as used in bathrooms, or the like, to direct running water to either a bath-tub outlet or to a shower outlet, which has an operating lever that protrudes from the housing, in order to reduce the amount of force required to operate the valve and to reduce the amount by which the system protrudes from the valve housing, the operating rod is connected to an operating lever that is supported so as to be able to pivot on a bearing, the lever arm of the operating lever being so dimensioned that only relatively small operating forces are required to operate it.
