An operating handle for an apparatus, especially cleaning apparatus, such as wipers, wiper mops, brooms or the like is disclosed, whereby the handle includes at least a pair of first and second tubular handle elements which are connectable with one another. The tubular handle elements form a cavity, whereby a connecting member is provided for connection of the first and a second handle elements, which connecting member projects at least partially into the hollow interior of the handle elements. The connecting member includes a first connecting portion and a second connecting portion, whereby the first connecting portion is for connection with the first handle element and the second connecting portion is for connection with the second handle element. The first and/or second connecting portion is provided with a screw-in thread engageable with connecting means positioned on the first and/or second handle element. The first and/or second connecting portion has a supporting surface for engagement with the inner surface of the associated handle element and the screw in thread is positioned in the region of the supporting surface.
