A thruster for a helicopter is mounted in a rear portion of a tail boom (16). Two sets of vanes deflect an air flow stream flowing along the tail boom respectively to opposed sides of the tail boom. Two shutters (46, 48) are pivotally arranged partly around the sets of vanes to leave two openings in respective sides of the tail boom. The shutters are pivoted in sympathy toward each other or away from each other to open/close the respective openings symmetrically and simultaneously such that a geometrical centre line of each opening remains static irrespective of the status of the opening.

Un propulseur pour un hélicoptère est fixé dans la partie arrière d'une poutre de queue (16). Deux ensembles d'aubes dévient le flux d'air s'écoulant le long de la poutre de queue respectivement vers les côtés opposés de cette dernière. Deux volets (46, 48) sont disposés rotatifs partiellement autour des ensembles d'aubes afin de laisser deux ouvertures dans les côtés respectifs de la poutre de queue. Les volets pivotent simultanément l'un vers l'autre ou en s'écartant l'un de l'autre afin d'ouvrir/fermer symétriquement et simultanément les ouvertures respectives, pour qu'une ligne centrale géométrique de chaque ouverture demeure statique, que l'ouverture soit ouverte ou fermée.
