ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An operational amplifier is provided having first, second and third input terminals for receiving first, second and third input signals respectively, the third input terminal of which is opposite in polarity than the other terminals. The amplifier includes an amplifying portion which comprises a differential section for receiving the three input signals and forms therefrom a pair of difference signals. Also included in the amplifying portion is a summing section and a multiplying section, the summing section of which forms the sum of the difference signals and the multiplying section of which provides an amplification gain to the sum to form an output signal of desired gain. The amplifier is also provided with a feedback means for applying as an input signal to one of the input terminals, the output signal thereby stabilizing the amplifier. The amplifier can be configured to provide amplification gains of 2, 1/2, -1 and 1. In view of the amplification gains equal to 2 and 1/2 respectively, there 18 also provided an analog to digital converter and a digital to analog converter both of which comprise a cascaded series of operational amplifiers.
