The present invention is directed to an ophthalmic composition in the form of a topical aqueous solution consisting essentially of: an ophtalmologically active agent containing basic groups, an ion sensitive, hydrophilic polymer containing acidic groups in an amount of 0.004 to 1.5 % by weight, at least one salt selected from the group of inorganic salts and buffers in a total amount of from 0.01 to 2.0 % by weight, and optionally a wetting agent and a preservative, the ratio between salt and polymer being such that the solution exhibits a viscosity of less than 1000 mPas, and the pH of the solution is 4.0 to 8Ø The composition contains a sufficient amount of polymer to provide for a controlled absorption of the drug into the eye, its viscosity having been reduced to provide for better handling characteristics.
La présente invention concerne une composition ophthalmique se présentant sous la forme d'une solution aqueuse topique, constituée essentiellement de: un agent actif sur le plan ophthalmologique contant des groupes basiques, un polymère hydrophile sensible aux ions, contenant des groupes acides, en une quantité de 0,004 à 1,5 % en poids; au moins un sel choisi dans le groupe des sels et des tampons inorganiques, en une quantité totale de 0,01 à 2,0 % en poids; et éventuellement un agent mouillant et un conservateur. Le rapport du sel au polymère est tel que la solution présente une viscosité inférieure à 1000 mPas, et le pH de cette solution est de 4,0 à 8,0. Cette composition contient une quantité suffisante de polymère pour permettre une absorption contrôlée du médicament par l'oeil, sa viscosité ayant été réduite pour que ses caractéristiques de manipulation soient améliorées.
