The present invention is directed to a drug delivery device for a human eye. The human eye has a sclera, an inferior oblique muscle, and a macula. The device of the present invention includes a pharmaceutically active agent, and a geometry that facilitates the implantation of the device on an outer surface of the sclera, beneath the inferior oblique muscle, and with the pharma-ceutically active agent disposed above the macula. Methods of delivery a pharmaceutically active agent to the posterior segment of the human eye are also disclosed.
La présente invention concerne un dispositif d'administration de médicaments destiné à un oeil humain. L'oeil humain possède une sclérotique, un muscle oblique inférieur et une macule. Le dispositif de cette invention comprend un agent actif sur le plan pharmaceutique et présente une géométrie qui facilite l'implantation du dispositif sur une surface externe de la sclérotique, en-dessous du muscle oblique inférieur, ledit agent actif sur le plan pharmaceutique étant disposé au-dessus de la macule. Ladite invention a également trait à de procédés d'administration d'un agent actif sur le plan pharmaceutique au segment postérieur de l'oeil humain.
