An ophthalmic lens package ( 10 ) includes a pair of shell members ( 12, 14 ) that are removably attached to each other and a pair of absorbent members ( 16, 18 ) sandwiched therebetween. The shell members are connected to each other by a hinge ( 40 ) at one of their ends, and are pivotable relative to each other about the hinge between a clos ed pos ition, in which the shell members are attached to each other, and an open position.
