Optic Fiber Contact Abstract of the Disclosure An optic fiber connection system is provided which enables the forming of a lens or bead at the end of an optic fiber and the positioning of the lens for coupling to another optic fiber, in a manner that minimizes the danger of breaking off the lens. The contact has a hole along its axis for receiving the optic fiber, and has a cross aperture extending perpendicular to the hole near the front end of the connector. With the tip of the optic fiber lying in the cross aperture, heat can be applied to the tip to form a nearly spherically shaped lens thereon, as by electric arc heating. The lens then lies at the final position it occupies for optic coupling to another optic fiber, or rearward of the final position, As a result, the optic fiber can be left at the position, or pushed forward to its final position, rather than being pulled rearward which could cause breakoff of the lens.
