ABSTRACT OF THE INVENTION A transmitter and receiver send and receive through respective lenses light beams which are parallel in a test chamber where the optical axes of the beams have an intersection at an acute angle (B). Light diaphragms and a light sump arrangement delimit the beam paths. The light focused at the receiver thus comprises only parallel backwards scattered radiation and the overall length of the arrangement can be minimised. Light channels are arranged to delimit the beam cones between the lenses and transmitter or receiver respec- tively.
