A method of optically analysing a sample, which method comprises directing one or more frequencies of electromagnetic radiation (EMR) through a sample and onto a partially reflective surface (9) that allows EMR (6) directed thereon to be both reflected.and transmitted, which reflected EMR (12) is directed back through the sample such that the pathlength through the sample is different for the transmitted EMR (10) and reflected EMR (12), which transmitted EMR and reflected EMR are both detected by one or more detectors (11,15), characterised in that the optical absorbance of the sample at the one or more wavelengths of EMR is calculated from the difference between the transmitted EMR (10) and reflected EMR (12).
L'invention concerne un procédé permettant l'analyse optique d'un échantillon, ledit procédé comprenant l'orientation d'une ou plusieurs fréquences de rayonnement électromagnétique (EMR) à travers un échantillon et sur une surface partiellement réfléchissante (9) qui permet au rayonnement électromagnétique (6) dirigé sur celle-ci d'être réfléchi et transmis, ledit rayonnement électromagnétique réfléchi (12) étant renvoyé à travers l'échantillon de sorte que la longueur de trajet à travers l'échantillon soit différente pour le rayonnement électromagnétique transmis (10) et le rayonnement électromagnétique réfléchi (12), lesdits rayonnement électromagnétique transmis et rayonnement électromagnétique réfléchi étant tous deux détectés par un ou plusieurs détecteurs (11, 15), caractérisé en ce que l'absorbance optique de l'échantillon aux dites une ou plusieurs longueurs d'onde de rayonnement électromagnétique est calculée à partir de la différence entre le rayonnement électromagnétique transmis (10) et le rayonnement électromagnétique réfléchi (12).
