The optical communication device substrate according to the present invention includes one of ceramic and glass ceramic each having an average thermal expansion coefficient of - 55 to - 120 × 10 -7/C° in the temperature range of - 40 to + 100C° and each containing one of a .beta.-quartz solid solution and a .beta.-eucryptite solid solution as a main crystal. In the substrate, maximum thermal expansion hysteresis that occurs when temperature rise from - 40C° to 100C° at a rate of 1C°/min and temperature lowering from 100C° to - 40C° at a rate of 1C°/min are performed is less than 12 ppm.
La présente invention concerne un dispositif de communication optique constitué de céramique ou de composite à matrice vitrocéramique contenant une solution solide de beta -quartz ou une solution solide de beta -eucryptide comme cristal principal et présentant un coefficient de dilatation thermique moyen compris entre -40 et +100 degrés Celsius de -55 à 120 *10<-7>/ DEG C, qui se caractérise en ce qu'il présente une hystérèse de dilatation thermique maximum inférieure à 12 ppm lorsqu'il est soumis à un chauffage partant de -40 degrés Celsius à + 100 DEG C à raison de 1 DEG C/min et à un refroidissement partant de 100 degrés Celsius à -40 DEG C à raison de 1 DEG C/min.
